I. Love. Music

Like most others, music is my life. Songs can make you dance your life away as well as get you through some really tough times. i love it. All of it. Everything it represents.

I have several friends that are producers, along with friends that are musicians, etc... for the past little while I've gotten to sit in on some rad recording sessions and see how its all done!

My producer friend, Matt, has been making some really sick beats! Now, while I was thoroughly enjoying my night in a slightly intoxicated state.. I was listening to one of his beats and made up some random lyrics... simple.. to the beat.. they worked.

The next morning, of course... I forgot them.

WELL! Last week (weeks after my lyrical inspiration) I was listening to the song and my memory was suddenly sparked: lyrics recalled. So text him and tell him I'm on my way over to show my new found lyrical mastermind!

When I arrive, I let him read the lyrics.. which he liked but then he decides to tell me he can't hear how they go to the beat... (Note: I am no singer, nor have I ever tried to be... if you know me, you know I'm quite shy when put in a spotlight) ..so I quietly mouth the lyrics for a minute....He loves it. Now, there's a girl that has been doing vocals on some of their songs, and these lyrics were written for her to sing. But of course, my fantastic beat-making friend Matt informs me that she'd be coming down the following day (which he knew I just happen to be heading out of town for, that night) and I would have to record a draft version of these lyrics for her to reference. So thus begins his incredibly persistent pursuit in getting me to record them for him... After about 15 minutes of convincing, I reluctantly say yes. I spend 10-15 minutes recording the goods and once he's content with the sounds I hit the road down to Sunny San Diego!

Well, upon my arrival back to the valley I stop over to find out how the song turned out! Matts words when I sit down: "uhhh... well... we spent all day on the track... and she tried, really... but... well, listen and tell me what you think."

- she butchered it. Totally, completely butchered it.

So, to sum up this seemingly turned, long blog post, I am officially singing on a track that I wrote the chorus for.. and am on my friends demo album. Done and done. Success.

Love.
